Education and Outreach in Space Technologies and GIS


The 2013 EGU (European Geosciences Union) General Assembly took place in Vienna from 7 to 12 April 2013. EGU, is a non-profit international union of scientists with over 12,500 members from all over the world dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in the geosciences and space sciences for the benefit of humanity, worldwide. Its headquarters are in Munich, Germany. EGU General Assembly covers a wide range of topics, including volcanology, planetary exploration, climate as well as energy and resources.

 

On Monday, 8 th of April Valerio Tramutoli, new co-chair of the NEREUS EO/Copernicus WG, convened a session titled “Education and Outreach in Space Technologies and GIS”. The session addressed education and communication issues related to the development and use of Space Technologies and GIS for societal benefits. The main purpose of this session was to fill the gaps between research communities, enterprises working on added value products and potential final users of such products. In this occasion Roya Ayazi NEREUS Secretary General, presented the network and its activities.
