16 billion € earmarked for space in the proposal the European Commission published for the next MFF 2021-2027!

On the 2nd of May, the European Commission published its proposal for the next Multiannual Financial Framework covering the period 2021-2027. With its “Modern Budget for a Union that Protects, Empowers and Defends“, the European Commission explicitly makes reference to “a fully integrated space programme (that) will bring together all of our activities in this highly strategic field. This will provide a coherent framework for future investment, offering increased visibility and more flexibility”. Moreover, the European Commission makes a specific mention to “space-driven services that will benefit all EU citizens“.  Over 16 billion € have been earmarked for this fully integrated space programme, included in the pillar “Single Market, Innovation and Digital“.

Based on this figure, NEREUS published a pamphlet advocating for an ambitious support to the downstream sector in order to bring the benefits of space uses closer to EU citizens. This will serve as a basis for the working breakfast meeting of the 3rd of May.  Read on!
