BRESAT - Broadband in EU Regions via Satellite
BRESAT (Full title: Broadband in EU Regions via Satellite) will define guidelines for the successful deployment of high speed broadband via satellite across regions of Europe to assist with the objective of 100% EU broadband coverage. It will support the objectives of the EU Digital Agenda and assist national regional initiatives. It will include following objectives:
1. Leveraging previous experience, it will identify the conditions of success for Satellite broadband deployment in EU regions;
2. Develop recommendations and best practice for the deployment framework of satellite broadband solutions and optimise the cost benefit for key stakeholders;
3. Disseminate information widely to EU regions.
4. Establish an information repository for all EU regions for exploitation during and beyond project life.
The project was submitted in response of the (2012) ICT Policy Support Programme (PSP) as part of the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP). It started on 1st November 2012. It has duration of 36 months and it is partially funded by the ICT PSP-CIP Programme for 480.000 EUR.
BRESAT project is coordinated by Avanti Communications Ltd (UK). The project consortium is composed of 16 partners from the industry sector and public authorities; 2 of them are NEREUS members: Brittany region and Thales Alenia Space France. NEREUS is supporting the promotion of the project activities.
