APULIA

Apulia is a region in the Southeast of Italy bordered by the sea. It occupies 6.4% of the national territory.

Agriculture and the services sector carry out a relatively large importance in the regional economy while SME’s contribute some 95% of the manufactured production.

The Apulia Region is an eligible area under the European Union Convergence Objective.

The Region is currently moving from a traditional economy to a new economy founded on knowledge, services and innovation. Moreover, the Regional innovation policy supports this transition phase, e.g. by means of the Apulia Technological District and by improving the System of Regional Innovation-SIR, a framework for innovation among the different relevant actors, which pursues sustainable economic development.
