The European Commission, in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) and the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) co-hosted an event launching the European Union’s new space programme in Brussels on 22 June 2021.
On that occasion, Ms Roya Ayazi represented NEREUS highlighting the important role of regions in enhancing entrepreneurship and asking how the Commission promotes space as a vehicle for resilience and recovery in the post-pandemic period at local and regional levels. Ms. Ekaterini Kavvada, Deputy Director for Defense, Industry and Space replied that the pandemic demonstrated the added value for the space programme and the need to be close to the EU regions establishing two-way communication.
