On 24–25 June 2025, the Clusters Meet Regions event in Foligno (Umbria) brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and regional stakeholders to discuss the role of clusters in accelerating Europe’s green and digital transitions. The focus was on how regional ecosystems are driving transformation across sectors such as aerospace, e-mobility, and nautical innovation.
Representing NEREUS, Secretary General Ms. Roya Ayazi participated in the panel discussion “Industrial Sustainability Enablers,” where she highlighted the critical role of Earth Observation and the Copernicus programme in supporting informed, long-term decision-making in the energy sector. Drawing on the Copernicus4regions publication “How Copernicus Supports the Energy Transition”, she illustrated how space data enables more effective planning and implementation of sustainable and resilient energy policies at regional level.
The event clearly demonstrated the strategic value of clusters in:
-
Driving regional innovation and economic development
-
Accelerating the uptake of digital and sustainable technologies
-
Strengthening cross-sectoral and international cooperation
-
Enabling EU regions to respond to evolving economic and climate challenges
