The 20th infosession, as part of the NEREUS webinar series, will focus on strengthening education and training in space policy, governance, and regulatory affairs. As Europe advances towards new instruments, such as the EU Space Act, there is growing demand for young people and professionals in regions able to understand how space is organised, who makes decisions, and how regional ecosystems interact at EU, and national, levels.

The speakers will be Kai-Uwe Schrogl, ESA Special Adviser for Political Affairs and Professor at the University of Tübingen (Baden-Württemberg), and Prof. Nicole Viola from Politecnico di Torino.
Intervention by Dr. Dimitrios Stroikos, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellow at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna, Head of the LSE IDEAS Space Policy Project, Editor-in-Chief of Space Policy.
This online session will highlight the need to bring space policy, governance, space economics and space law more prominently into university curricula. It will explore how academic programmes, master’s courses, faculty initiatives, and interdisciplinary modules can equip young people with strategic, legal, and institutional knowledge related to space.
Through best practices and concrete examples from European universities and regional strategies, the infosession will:
- Showcase emerging courses on space law, policy, and institutional frameworks.
- Encourage faculties to integrate policy-oriented modules in engineering, business and legal studies.
- Emphasise the growing demand for individuals who understand governance structures and regulatory developments.
- Demonstrate how regions and academic institutions can collaborate to strengthen the talent pipeline.
By focusing on education as a strategic enabler, the session aims to inspire universities, training providers, and regional authorities to build robust learning pathways that support Europe’s long-term capacity in space policy and governance.
Target group: Universities/research centres which are NEREUS-Associate members, Universities based in NEREUS-members regions, other Universities interested in education/training, cooperation partners, NEREUS-regions who hosted the EO4GEO workshops in the past, all NEREUS-members interested in the education/training regarding the use of space technologies;
