Follow-up: EU Space Package – Info Session III: EU Space Act and Vision for a European Space Economy, 22 April 2026

NEREUS organised the webinar: Session III: Info Session on the Proposed EU Space Package (EU Space Act and Vision for a European Space Economy), as part of its series of online events on the proposed EU Space Package on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, from 10:00 to 11:30h. The session brought together a wide range of participants from European institutions, regional authorities, industry, and academia.

The session provided an in-depth update on the state of play of the EU Space Package negotiations, focusing on political priorities, key areas of debate, and the broader vision for a European space economy. Contributions came from key institutional and stakeholder representatives:

François Kalfon (Member of the European Parliament, IMCO Committee) shared the European Parliament’s perspective, outlining his political priorities as rapporteur for the opinion of the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO) and providing first-hand insights into the ongoing negotiations, shortly after the committee’s report adoption.

Views from institutional and stakeholder representatives complemented the discussion:

Charles Bouland (French Permanent Representation) presented the Council-side and national perspective on the negotiations.

Florian Gleißner (OHB SE) brought in an industry viewpoint, highlighting opportunities and challenges for the European space sector.

Cécile Théard-Jallu (De Gaulle Fleurance) offered a legal expert perspective on the regulatory implications of the EU Space Act.

Tanja Masson-Zwaan (Leiden University) provided an academic perspective, reflecting on governance and international space law considerations.

The webinar concluded with a dynamic exchange with participants, addressing political priorities, controversial aspects under discussion, and the expected impact of the EU Space Act on stakeholders across the value chain and public authorities in Europe.
