Follow-up: BUILDING BRIDGES: BADEN-WÜRTTEMBERG’S SCIENCE COMMUNITY MEETS NEREUS, 24 NOVEMBER 2025


The webinar, organised in collaboration with the scientific community of Baden-Württemberg, provided a platform for exchange on the benefits of European cooperation in the space sector and the role of networks such as NEREUS in supporting regional ecosystems.

The session opened with a joint presentationby Roya Ayazi, NEREUS Secretary-General, and Margarita Chrysaki, Communication/Policy/Project Officer. They offered a comprehensive overview of the network’s mission and ongoing activities: Copernicus4Regions ESA initiative; Horizon Europe OCEANIDS project; the work of the Earth Observation Working Group; webinar series on education, training, and space applications.

Initial Q&A Session


A short Q&A followed, during which participants requested clarifications on how the region could become more engaged in NEREUS activities and how the network facilitates access to European initiatives and partnerships.

Introduction of the Baden-Württemberg Research and Academic Community


Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stephan Staudacher, Director of the Institute of Aircraft Propulsion Systems, then introduced the research and academic landscape of Baden-Württemberg. He presented the region’s strategic priorities, its strong aerospace research capabilities, and its interest in deepening cooperation with European partners through networks such as NEREUS.

Best Practices and Regional Testimonials


The webinar continued with a series of testimonials illustrating how different European regions make effective use of space technologies:

  • BasilicataNicola Pergola (CNR-IMAA) demonstrated the region’s expertise in Earth observation and atmospheric monitoring.

  • Emilia-RomagnaAdriano Gilli (Regional Administration) presented examples of how regional authorities integrate space-based services into environmental and territorial planning.

  • Occitanie — Benoît Mingam (Regional Administration) highlighted the region’s strong aerospace ecosystem and its engagement in cross-border innovation activities.

  • VenetoCarlo Masetto (Cartography Department) shared practical applications of Copernicus data in mapping, land management, and civil protection.
